Punjab’s high population density, rapid urbanization, industrial proliferation, and irresponsible farming have depleted its green cover and left it polluted. Its forest cover is a mere 3.5%.
Every individual – rich and poor, urban and rural, and in all regions – rely on natural capital. Trees give us fresh air, prevent soil degradation and flooding, and are essential to maintaining the ecological balance, and as such life on this planet.
Plant for Punjab is an initiative that promotes responsible environmental practices, cares for biodiversity, creates germplasm conservation banks, reduces carbon footprint and offers protection against future ecological degradation.
RoundGlass Foundation mobilizes citizen power by creating partnerships with gram panchayats and eco-clubs to introduce responsible practices and help Punjab restore its green cover.
