"Empowering women is a prerequisite to creating a good nation, when women are empowered, a society with stability is assured." – Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam
A study by the World Bank states India can raise its GDP in double-digits if more women participate in economic development, mainly in rural areas. Today, lack of education and societal limitations, resulting in lack of motivation and entrepreneurial aptitude are some of the factors that bar the desired development.
The Self-help groups initiative encourages rural women to form alliances and empower each other - through support, education, and financial assistance to achieve their personal and professional goals. These Self-help groups are consequential in promoting economic growth for women in order to become financial contributors to their families and to the overall growth of their communities.
